Faith Worketh By Love

Galatians 5:6 – The Message (MSG)

4-6 I suspect you would never intend this, but this is what happens. When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, you fall out of grace. Meanwhile we expectantly wait for a satisfying relationship with the Spirit. For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in love.

Our walk of love is important. Notice in this scripture it is not the works of the flesh that profit us. It is FAITH that profits us and our faith “worketh by love”.

So what does it mean that “faith worketh by love”? It simply means that when we are trying to stand and live by faith that it is our walking in love with others and God that puts our faith to work. Look at it this way, “If faith worketh by love then if we are not walking in love our faith won’t work.” If our faith won’t work then we can receive nothing from the Lord. “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6-7). We can make all the confessions we want to. We can quote the Bible day and night. We can fast and pray, and we still won’t receive from God if we are not walking in love.

Love is the expression of true faith. When we choose to love, we add to our faith and it causes our faith to grow. Faith should be energized by love but supported by virtue (goodness). Our character should reflect that of our Father. The presence of the Spirit marks us the children of God, and the power of the Spirit produces in us the character of God. If we operate daily in the power of love, we will develop the character of God and reap the benefits of the fruits of the Spirit  - love, joy, peace, goodness, longsuffering, kindness, faithfulness, self-control, gentleness.

I have learned that if I am to maintain any kind of faith walk, I must put down my carnal nature. The secret is letting the love of God work within my spirit. In us is the ability to love others with God’s love (selflessly) and when we love each other in this way, we cover each other’s mistakes and flaws. It is a working grace. Allow Him to stretch you in love so He can pull out all that’s been dormant inside of you. Our miracles are connected to the power within us and we won’t be able to tap into our full potential until we know how much God loves us. You can tell when you’re growing by what comes out of you when you’ve been stretched. When your faith is tested, your love is tested. The enemy wants our love because our faith won’t work without love. Satan cannot take the love of God out of the believer who stays connected to God. So STAY CONNECTED TO GOD!!! God wants us to get it so we can grow into our inheritance. In this new year and onward, choose to love harder (with brotherly love) but also protect your heart because from it flows the issues of life. The love of God needs to ooze out of us so much that when we walk into a room, people will know we are living in love!

Happy New Year! :)

I hope all of you are happy and well! I want to share a video I ran across online that really blessed me. It’s an interview with Devon Franklin (actress Megan Good’s husband) and his thoughts and testimony on faith. He’s the author of his first book, Produced By Faith and Vice President of Sony Pictures. I watched a few of his videos and was encouraged by his words and the light that shines through him. Check it out! :)

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.

For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

Apple of His Eye

Daughter (says):

I say YES and You say – BLESSED is he who believes in Me

I say YES and You say – by My Word, it shall come to pass

Come to pass -

Past the pain, disappointment and unbelief.

It is HE -

Who sees me naked

Beyond the clothing of fake smiles and happy pretending’s

Unclothed from the shirt of lustful desires

Pants of perdition

The bare skin of innocence

It is HE who believes in me

In Him I have my being -

Created new -

Pulled through -

From who I once was to who I will be

Walking the ‘in between’ as He continues to work within me

Being made whole

He is not finished with me yet

Layers of sin’s clothing are loosened

I am freed from a life without His breath -

Death and trickery

Protected from the enemy’s darts, he barely misses me

By His grace, I am transformed. I am renewed

Heart, mind and soul

A new layer of clothing

Royal silk with a crown of jewels

Father (says):

You say YES and I say believe in Me, My daughter

You say YES and I say beauty is within you

By My stripes you are healed

My light runs through your veins

And seeps through your pores

Pumping from the core of your heart

You are Mine, always

The creation whom I adore

You have My being

Just Believe -

In what I have for you

I plan to prosper you

Engulfed in My love

Under My arms of protection

I’ve given you power, love and ability

Rejoice in Me

For My ear inclines to you

LIFE is within you

And My breath is upon you

You are free. To love. To be

Who I created you to be

Walk in My power and authority

Beware of unbelief

Made strong where you are weak

My daughter, you shall see Destiny

– Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings… – Psalm 17:8
